Borussia Dortmund – Hamburger

Borussia Dortmund hosts Hamburger SV in a match from the 22nd round of the German Bundesliga. Let’s have a look at this clash at the Signal Iduna Park in Dortmund.

Borussia Dortmund continues their fight for a Champions League qualification. They are currently 4th in the standings with 34 points, being just one point behind the 2nd Bayer Leverkusen. Last week Dortmund were out of the Top 4, but their win against Koln allowed them to return among the first four.

The match in Koln was a great debut for the new signing from Chelsea Michy Batshuayi. The Belgian striker scored two goals in his first game for Borussia Dortmund, proving that he’s a capable player. He had a hard time at Chelsea, but now he’s ready to revive his career in Germany. Can he score again versus Hamburger? We shall wait and see.

Speaking of Hamburger, the former European champions have another difficult season. Hamburger is currently 17th in the Bundesliga, being in the relegation zone of the league. They have won just 17 points since the start of the season. Their record so far is 4 wins, 5 draws and 12 defeats. They have scored just 17 goals in 21 games so far, which explains their position in the table.

In their last five matches, Hamburger didn’t win either one. They suffered three defeats and won total of two points during the draws with RB Leipzig and Hannover 96. They are currently 3 points behind the 16th Mainz 05 and as it looks now, it’s going to be a tough battle for survival for Hamburger.

Borussia Dortmund is a heavy favourite here, of course. They have a better team than Hamburger and they are playing at home. Both teams need the points, because of different reasons, but Dortmund is the favourite here.
